Piazzas - The Living Rooms Of Rome
Take a stroll like the Romans do through some of the most famous and interesting piazzas in the eternal city
Description
Take a stroll like the Romans do through 2 of the most famous and interesting piazzas in the city and discover why the piazza is called the “outdoor living room” of the Italians!
Tiny apartments are pretty standard in any big city, and Rome is no exception. So it’s no wonder that the Romans consider their beautiful squares to be just an extension of their living space. During this relaxing stroll you’ll feel right at home as well!
You’ll start your tour at the Palazzo di Giustizia, the Palace of Justice, a building of astonishing size and beauty, and walk towards the Piazza di Spagna from there. As you walk your guide will be showing you the history of these venerable streets as you pass numerous ancient monuments as well as all the restaurants, shopping and markets of modern-day Rome.
But arriving at the Piazza di Spagna will kick the excitement up a notch with its lively atmosphere and exceptional beauty. This oblong piazza may have a funny shape, but it’s packed to the brim with sights and history, from Keats house, Bernini’s half-sunken fountain, and of course the famous Spanish Steps! You can climb all 135 of them to the top if you like but don’t just sit down to rest on the way up - Rome has declared the steps to be off limits for sitting!
From one piazza to the next you go, this time to Piazza del Popolo, - the People’s Square, just a short walk away. Famous for its symmetrical design and massive Egyptian obelisk, you’ll visit the “twin churches”, take in a little art (and by that we mean Caravaggio!), and literally top off the tour by climbing the steps to Picino Park which overlooks the entire square.
Pretty piazza please? The answer is YES!
