Flavors of Venice: Food & Wine Tour
Get your foodie on in Venice with local wine and food, plus a gondola ride to boot!
Description
Whether you’ve been to Venice a 100 times, or are planning your first trip, this tour is an introduction (or re-acquaintance!) with Venice like no other. If you like food and wine, and the romance of the Venetian gondola (and hey, who doesn’t?) then you are in for a real treat - and we mean that literally.
During this delicious tour the focus is on eating and drinking well in the local bacari, low-key Venetian tapas bars that are serving up traditional and innovative bite-sized snacks.
It’s a foodie’s dream, especially as your guide will take you off the beaten path to discover the “locals only” hot spots. You can’t find these in the tour books, every bar you visit is 100% locally owned and operated!
Starting in the 1,000 year old neighborhood of Cannaregio, you’ll immediately be immersed in the local experience, especially as this area is one of the last residential zones in all of Venice. You’ll learn about the history of this fascinating city as you head straight away to the first bacari where the food and wine tasting begins!
After a few stops in Cannaregio tasting wine and tapas, you’ll hop aboard a gondola (weather permitting) and cross the Grand Canal - molto romantico! During the morning tour you’ll be taken through the Rialto market and learn about the local products, then you’ll be off to visit several more bacari.
Polenta with seafood, marinated olives, spicy fried meatballs, local vegetables and crostini, bruschetta and squid ink calamari - they all await you in Venice. Make sure you come hungry!
It won’t be Venice if you don’t raise your glass in a toast to this unforgettable experience!
